First Time Mom? Add these items to your registry ASAP!

When you find out you're pregnant, you're overjoyed and excited and maybe, like me very very nauseous. Then it sets in, and you realize research and registering for baby items is as overwhelmed as registering for your wedding. After a year of keeping a tiny human alive, I have learned a lot about different products that will make your life easier. I'm the person who over-registered and took every recommendation from friends to heart. I looked up each item and spent time anguishing over what to get or not get. Below is the list of things I believe are essential. If you have any follow-up questions, feel free to comment below or send me a quick message on Instagram. I'm linking the items on Liketoknowit and appreciate you using the links to shop if you buy the items yourself. I do get a small commission for each of them.

  1. Snuggle Me Organic Baby Lounger— Do you like being able to use your hands for simple tasks? You need these. The early days of having a newborn are sweet and full of cuddles, but sometimes you just need to safely put your baby down so that you can quickly use the restroom or grab some food. Although this lounger has not been approved as safe for nighttime sleep, it is perfect for daytime naps as well as letting the baby lay in it to stretch out. We put ours on our couch in the early weeks (when I was sitting next to him) while I was still recovering.

  2. Mamaroo— My top recommendation for this item is to start the first day you are home by giving your baby some time in it. If you wait a while to try it, my theory (although not proven, haha) is that your baby is less likely to love it. We used it for wake times when I could pry myself away from snuggling him. Since there are safety straps, I could also put him in it next to the shower. Ryder loved it right away and would nap in it too. We didn't use it for every nap because we didn't want him to get too used to needing movement to sleep.

  3. Pack and Play— Everyone needs one. It's the best item for travel and convenience to quickly fold up and pack away. Ryder hated the bassinet we had, so we used the Pack and Play in our bedroom for a couple of months. I cannot recommend this item enough. Once your baby is bigger, you can pop off the newborn insert and continue using it while your baby is a toddler. We now have one at our house, my in-laws, and my parents. Everyone needs one!

  4. Newton Mattress— Safety and peace of mind is not something you can put a price on. This mattress has given me SO much peace of mind. The mattress is 100% breathable and 100% washable, and when your baby is rolling or sleeping on their stomach, this one item alone keeps you from checking on them every .5 seconds to make sure your baby is breathing. I'm not a worrier, but this was one thing that made a huge difference in helping me sleep at night.

  5. Eufy Baby Monitor— As a first-time Mom, the idea of having my baby monitor on wifi made me nervous. Although I know monitors have come a long way, the idea of anyone ever hacking into my monitor made me nervous. I also did not want my monitor to be reliant on whether or not our internet was working because you never know, especially with random winter storms in Texas.

  6. Adaptive Sound Technologies White Noise Machine- I love white noise, but I'm super picky about the type of white noise. This one has a lot of options and can be very loud. It has helped Ryder sleep through so many loud noises. My friend recommended this to me, and we have loved it!
